Congratulations to Longmont Ford’s February Athletes!
Gage Robertson / Skyline High School / Boys Varsity Basketball
Gage is the leading scorer in the Tri-Valley Conference at 16.8 points per game. Our team is 8-3 in the conference and 11-7 overall. Without Gage’s performance we wouldn’t be having the successful season we are having. I’d consider him the most valuable player in the league as other teams have many more scoring options. Gage also averages 5 rebounds/3 assists/1.5 steals per game.
Ashayla Powers / Skyline High School / Girls Varsity Basketball
Ashayla earned all conference in track her Freshman and Sophomore years.
Times-Call Athlete of the week for 3 games in January 29th 2019. Ashayla averaged 22.7 points and 11.3 rebounds a game.
Ashayla has not chosen a college to attend as of today. She wants to go to college to study business, health and nutrition. Ashayla as a junior at Skyline High School has grown into the leadership role for the girls basketball team. As a leader, Ashayla doesn’t lead by yelling and screaming at the team mates but leads by example and is humbled by her success. Ashayla recognizes her role on the team and continues to work hard in practice and games every single opportunity she gets to compete.
I have not had a athlete that is more coachable and humble in my years of coaching young athletes. Even at her young age, she has learned to put the team goals before her own and is seeing much success as the season winds down and the team prepares for the state basketball tourney. Ashayla currently works part time during school and basketball to cover some of her own expenses.
